There is a beautiful stone door at #7 Pila Seca, in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, that welcomes you to a very special corner, a concept store<\/em> based on the authentic Mediterranean lifestyle.\nIt is not only a place for exhibition and sale, it is also a place for the encounter between Mexican and Mediterranean culture.\nLet us introduce you to La Modernista.<\/strong><\/a> <\/p> \n

El origen de La Modernista<\/h4> \n<\/div> \n

Before telling you details of the project, I want to tell you about the architects of this adventure: Ana is Mexican and David is from Barcelona.\nThe first time I met this couple was as clients when we were in the gallery on Seneca Street.\nAna’s brother was getting married and they wanted to give him a piece by Sergio Mora, whom they not only admired: he and David had gone to school together!\nWe went to Sergio’s workshop and together we chose the piece.\nFrom that day on we saw each other very often in Plom and we started to become friends. <\/p> \n

Sergio Mora’s style evokes Mexican culture and the Diablo Santo<\/a> is just one example, no wonder he is part of this story.<\/figcaption> \n<\/figure> \n<\/div> \n

Ana, who came to Barcelona to work, gradually fell in love with the Mediterranean lifestyle, culture and gastronomy.\nOn the other hand, David, restless and enterprising, had always seen Mexico as a vibrant, inspiring place full of opportunities.\nSo we could say that La Modernista was predestined to be born, Ana and David carried inside each of these cultures and the passion for each other’s, it was only necessary to realize it and get down to work. <\/p> \n

Descubriendo La Modernista<\/h4> \n<\/div> \n

They developed the project under a retail<\/em> concept based on the authentic Mediterranean lifestyle, studied which products they wanted to take with them and carefully selected the brands with which they felt most identified.\nThus, with a lot of hard work, love and commitment, they opened La Modernista, a place where you can find different quality pieces<\/strong> created by companies that care about the welfare of their customers.\nIn their catalog they have small gastronomic jewels such as those of Delicious & Sons<\/strong><\/a>design and quality with Tinnycottons<\/a><\/strong> for the children’s section, Maians<\/strong><\/a> y Naguisa<\/strong><\/a> with their handmade slippers and espadrilles, or Project Lobster<\/strong><\/a> y Octaevo<\/strong><\/a> among many more (here you can see all the brands).<\/a> <\/p> \n

Plom Gallery is also in La Modernista<\/strong>.\nThe pieces of some of our artists like Carmen Segovia<\/a>, Ibie<\/a>, Amaia Arrazola<\/a> or Sergio Mora are there thanks to Ana and David, <\/p> \n

It hasn’t even been two years since they moved to Mexico and started this project but it seems that it is starting to grow!\nVery soon La Modernista will also be in Mexico City.\nI know well the passion and enthusiasm they put into everything, so I’m sure it will be a success! <\/p> \n
