{"id":21405,"date":"2024-08-30T11:14:03","date_gmt":"2024-08-30T09:14:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.lossuperpoderesdelarte.com\/memphis-is-not-just-a-city\/"},"modified":"2024-08-30T11:14:03","modified_gmt":"2024-08-30T09:14:03","slug":"memphis-is-not-just-a-city","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lossuperpoderesdelarte.com\/en\/memphis-is-not-just-a-city\/","title":{"rendered":"Memphis is not just a city"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It was the 80&#8217;s, the madness of the 70&#8217;s was over and the world was recomposing itself with its usual monotony.<br \/>\nOne night (well, I don&#8217;t know if it was at night but we can imagine) the Italian designer and architect <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ettore_Sottsass\"><strong>Ettore Sottsass<\/strong><\/a>gathered designers and architects of various nationalities to whom he proposed to form a design group that would offer a new creative approach.<span id=\"more-3438\"><\/span> During the meeting, the Bob Dylan song <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=5WS-TTNaLyg\">&#8220;Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again&#8221;, hence the name of this new design group.<\/a><\/em> and hence the name of this new aesthetic current that not only revolutionized decoration, but that today, 30 years later, we continue to see reflected in art, fashion and design.<br \/>\nThe members of the <strong>Memphis<\/strong> group defended above all the use of bright colors and decorated surfaces, the unusual assembly of shapes and materials: laminates, plastics, glass, marble, metal, wood&#8230;
