Although this blog is designed to publish topics and activities of the gallery, this time I will talk to you from a more personal point of view because I am also a mom and I have many things to share. After all, my gallery project arises in part from having been a mother and wanting to teach my son how much art brings. That’s why I want to propose some books illustrated by great artists; for you to keep them in mind now that many summer nights are coming, when it’s hard for children to go to sleep “because it’s daytime! They can be used for any other time of course! ….. in any case, the selection is as much for the illustrations as for the stories they tell. Some of the titles are well known….
“Where the monsters live” ( ed. Kalandraka , story and illustrations by Maurice Sendak ).
This book sometimes I have had to explain it up to 3 times in a row….
I don’t mind because I love it.
I warn you that there are pages in which I have to add many gestures and onomatopoeias...  IMG_1885 “A que sabe la luna?” ( ed. Kalandraka, illustrations by Michael Grejniec, translation by Carmen Barreiros ) The animals of the jungle agree to taste the flavor of that huge moon that appears at night. One by one they can’t, but together….. a story that can help you to explain the good of sharing, something that sometimes is hard to do….  IMG_1881 “A little lost” ( ed. A thousand reasons, illustrations and story by Chris Haughton )
With this book we have laughed a lot because one of the main characters makes mistakes several times and that amuses the children.
The one I show you is the English version. IMG_1888  “I am an artist” ( Ed. Blackie Books, story and illustrations by Marta Altés )
A super “best seller”, with great and super fun illustrations by Marta Altés.
Moms will see you totally reflected (or most of you… ) and the most creative children will see an opportunity to imitate the protagonist ….
may it be mild for you….

“Rolf y Flor ” or “Flor y Rolf” ( Ed. Alba, songs written by The Pinker Tones and illustrated by Miguel Gallardo ) Two books in one.
The story is explained in Spanish when the protagonist is Rolf who lives in Barcelona and in English when you turn the book around and the protagonist is then Flor, who lives in New York.
The two protagonists “meet” in the middle of the book.
It also includes 2 CD’s also in Spanish and English version, with the songs composed by The Pinker Tones, ideal for listening in the car on the way to the beach.
We know them by heart, we have also explained and sung them many nights!  flower_rolf_books  All these titles can be found in one of the best bookstores dedicated to children and young people in Barcelona: CASA ANITA, in c/ Vic 14.
I would say that it is a “must visit”.
They close for vacations on August 9th.
So far the proposals for story time.
And if you want your children to have a good time doing activities, you have all the books from COCO BOOKS.
There are titles for ages from 2 years and up: for painting, drawing, cutting out, etc. ….
In Plom Gallery we have up to 15 different titles.
