This coming Saturday, which is the day of Sant Jordi, we have decided that in addition to “mount” our street table full of books for children to discover the art and artists, is the ideal day to inaugurate “Look to the future” an exhibition in which Marta R. Gustems proposes us to enter into the looks of children, with them and from them. Marta’s work has been influenced by her children and by all the children with whom she has a relationship: the children who go to school with hers, the children her friends have had, the ones she sees in the street…. Marta portrays children doing children’s things: playing, experimenting, discovering… situations very recognizable for all of us who are already parents, something that many of us like! Besides this, Marta masters the watercolor technique in a very remarkable way: she is delicate in the stroke and her colors are bright and vivid, and what we like the most is to hear that “ooooh….” from the clients when we show her work. Her drawings really deserve it, believe me!
In this exhibition you will be able to see many portraits of children who really exist, with their own name: Arnau, Bettina, Clara….
The surprise is that only they themselves and their parents will be able to recognize themselves because they all have their backs turned, to make us think about what things they think, about what the future will be like for them, about what the world they are still discovering will be like.
Marta has a long career in the fashion world: she has spent many years designing her own collections, she was a pioneer in the neighborhood of Gràcia with her store “Suite” where she sold her designs and those of the most original designers of the moment.
Many of us know her from that time, but the truth is that we love this twist, and that painting is now what she enjoys and fulfills her most.
Come on Saturday: those of you who will have your children “represented”, fans of her work in general, those of you who used to buy her designs, those of you who bought her at the Hiper de Vinçon and those of you who buy her now at the Hiper de la Moritz, she will be happy to see you!
The appointment is Saturday 23/4 from 12h.
There will be books, roses, vermouth and lots of children.
We hope there will be no rain….
The exhibition will be open until May 7th.
