Here you have the text about Pablo Picasso written by Pedro Calleja for the book “Los Superpoderes del Arte” (The Superpowers of Art), illustrated by Brianda Fitz-James Stuart. It is an unpublished story.
It does not appear in the book.
A great gift!
Exclusively for PLOM.
Lord Omega and Madame Nada travel to Paris in 1937 with the desire to break things.
They hate that city because it is full of works of art. -This city stinks of Art! -Nada complains. -It’s the capital of the pintamonas! -replies Omega.
A painter is not a person who paints monkeys, but an artist who draws monkeys.
Or, to put it another way, an artist who creates works that are a little laughable because they are so bizarre.
Omega and Nada think that the most painterly of all the painters in Paris is Pablo Picasso, a tremendously original painter who has invented new ways of portraying reality.
They don’t understand that he has become so famous for painting pictures where people have one eye on top of the other or a nose in place of an ear.
–That Picasso is a cheeky guy who makes fun of people,” says Omega. -We have to teach him a lesson! -sents Nada.
Cubist struggle in the atélier
Picasso has just moved into a very large studio, because he is painting a gigantic painting, almost 8 meters long and 3 and a half meters high.
The theme of the painting is war.
It is inspired by a real event: the bombing of a small Basque village called Guernica.
This is the title of the painting: Guernica.
“PICASSO GUERNICA”.

Omega and Nada, without paying attention to the painter, stand in front of the giant painting and start to touch it.
Pablo Picasso looks at them with a face of few friends. – You can erase or stain anything you want ,” he says to the villains. I don’t mind.
I know I can paint it all over again whenever I feel like it.
Real Art is not outside, but inside me. Omega and Nada stop what they’re doing and approach the artist with a grim look on their faces. -Ah!
Do you want a fight?
Well, we’re going to have a fight! -exclaims Picasso, rolling up the sleeves of his white shirt. But it will be a cubist fight.
Art transforms people
Picasso spreads some white paint around him.
When the paint comes in contact with Omega, Nada and the painter himself, all 3 become cubist versions of themselves.
Omega transforms into a horse with his body folded in on itself.
Nada’s arms stiffen and his head turns 180 degrees.
Picasso’s painting hand grows and his fingers swell like balloons.
The villains do not control the geometric shapes of their new bodies.
They try to hit Picasso with their fists and feet, but all they manage to do is hurt each other.
Nada gets kicked by Omega and Omega gets slapped by Nada.
Plaf, plaf!

Meanwhile, laughing loudly, Picasso draws them with his cubist hand. -Give us back our bodies! -Lord Omega relinquishes. – We promise not to bother you again,” pleads Madame Omega. – Ha, ha, ha…” laughs the painter.
Picasso continues drawing them for a long time.
When he is satisfied with the result, he lets the villains recover their original form and leave the way they came. -Au revoir.
