Cartoons and comics have been inspiring contemporary artists for more than half a century.
The first acclaimed artist to transform the aesthetics of comic strips into Pop art was the American Roy Lichtenstein, enlarging cartoons with dotted plots and sandwiches with dialogues directly taken from romantic comics (close-ups of girls in love) and war comics (jet planes and explosions).

Andy Warhol also used Superman and Mickey Mouse as artistic icons in his works. Disney’s mouse has also been recreated by artists such as Keith Haring, Damien Hirst, the graffiti artist Bansky or our admired Vall Karsunke.
Snoopy, the intelligent dog from the Carlitos cartoons and comics, is an essential graphic reference for the painter and art toy designer KAWS (pseudonym of Brian Donnelly).
The works of Japanese artist Takashi Murakami breathe anime and manga from all four sides.
